Utah Attorney General's Office - Assistant Attorney General - Water Rights

The Office of the Attorney General, Natural Resources Division has an immediate opening for an attorney to represent the Utah Division of Water Rights in general water right adjudications that are underway in district courts throughout the State of Utah. The position involves handling existing water right adjudication cases, advising the Division of Water Rights on general adjudication matters, and performing other related tasks. The applicant should have excellent written and oral advocacy skills, the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, and the ability to work well with others as part of a team.  Applicants with 0-5 years of experience will be considered. The ideal applicant will have background or experience in natural resource law or policy, particularly water right matters, including general water right adjudications, a substantive knowledge of Utah water law, and litigation experience. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the Utah State Bar upon application. Background checks are completed as a condition of employment. Travel is required as incumbents will need to represent the State in legal proceedings throughout the State.
